Words Break or Make
“A reflection on how easy it is to type before thinking.”
you horrible person
your words irritate me
fed up of reading them
on social media
~
why can’t you just shut up
going on about your life
don’t you know it’s crap
and your colour scheme awful
~
fingers tapping in reply
mind racing with words
harsh enough to bruise
~
ah, there she goes again
bragging about her body
doesn’t she know it’s too thin
and those clothes—I despair
_
hold on a minute
what is going on here
all those terrible replies
to personal posts
~
they have families
who love them dearly
look up to them
cherish their unit
~
words hurt
they tear down
leave quiet wounds
~
if we could only stop
truly read what we typed
would we continue
or let the feeling pass
~
life is hard and bitter
why make it harder
with cruel words that hurt
~
Stop
~
think
~
would you want to read
those ugly lines
those slanders
on your own feed
~
we should build up
not break down
what you give
you receive
~
Written with care and with a recognition of what is going on today. I look at social media, the threads that inflame. Especially posts about figure heads. Yes, I am not disputing what is going on now in the world. The uncertainties, the wars, homelessness, taxes, immigration, cost of living, NHS, patriotism, - oh I could go on. An opinion matters – but opinion versus defamation? Regardless of a person’s status, there are vulnerable children and people that read those media posts.
Perhaps, I am just a voice that wonders in this ever changing world, who has a softeness and strangeness to things that should matter.

We can fix it before we hit the post or send button if we take the time to think how our words might wound. It's not easy when you are angry... take the time to cool. You never get even, you just both lose. I know...
Such an amazing writing 💫💫💫 just voice for vulnerables and all 👏👏👏
